Small Planet was originally a vegetarian restaurant and grocery store located on 225 Ann Street where El Azteco is now. Easily one of the best restaurants in E Lansing in the 70′s and 80′s (as long as you cared to eat veg). Things started to change when one of the original owners came back to the business after an extended vacation courtesy of the state, the business obtained a liquor license after the 1980 census and eventually, it became a night club in the former space of Starboard Tack/America’s Cup.

Last weekend I stopped by with some friends for his birthday party. I waited 40 minutes in line, after my 6 friends in front of me paid $5 each, it was my time to enter. I had a transparent plastic cover on my wallet, and the bouncer didnt like it so he asked my to pull my ID out. I slipped it out and a dollar happened to fall out of my money clip style wallet. I was then told I’m too drunk and can’t enter, I was the sober ride to the bar and I was pissed as all hell. Screw that low self esteem, arrogant prick for judging and simply evaluating ones sobriety over a dropped ID. Each of my 6 friends who paid to get in left within minutes and went to Harpers. Hope you appreciate the loss of business your bouncer has awarded you.
