OPERATION: PEANUT BARREL LONG ISLAND

What the hell is in a Peanut Barrel Long Island!?

We've been curious for a long, long time about what goes into a Peanut Barrel "Strong Island" Iced tea.  Yeah sure, go ahead,  ask your friends what goes into a Peanut Barrel Long Island and they are bound to make up some bullshit as if they mix them up themselves everyday! The truth is very few people know exactly what goes into crafting one.

After many, many strong islands between our group we had made many discoveries, but before we give our full run down we want to give a big shout out to the Peanut Barrel and their amazing hospitality over the years. If you've ever made your way past Michigan Sate University's campus on a nice day it's without question you've seen the Peanut Barrel's patio bursting at the seams with people smiling and enjoying one of East Lansing's best beverages, their very own "Strong Island" Iced Tea.

A Trio of Peanut Barrel Long Island Iced Teas!

The traditional Long Island Iced Tea contains equal parts vodka, gin, tequila, rum and triple sec with 1½ parts sour mix and a splash of cola.  However the Peanut Barrel made it their own with only a few tweaks.

The biggest tweak is that they actually use 4 FULL shots of equal parts vodka, gin, rum and triple-sec. Also take note that they do NOT include tequila, they opted to skip tequila and stick to 4 full shots of the others.

The classic lemon slice, sour mix, and cola are used to fill the remainder of the drink and if we had to guess the ratio of sour mix to cola it was probably 50/50.  If your taste buds can tell the difference the Peanut Barrel has Pepsi products, that means that instead of Coca-Cola, Pepsi is used in it's place. We could definitely tell the sweeter finish that Pepsi brings and decided we wouldn't want a Peanut Barrel Long Island Iced Tea any other way! Keep in mind, they will cut you off after 2 of these, I managed to have a few beers after I finished my pair, but I wasn't able to order another Long Island.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading and we'd love it if you would follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or RSS!  As always feedback is always appreciated, so leave a comment!
