EAST LANSING NEW YEARS EVE 2012

East Lansing NYE 2011 #ELB

Wrapping up your year in East Lansing?  Well let's keep this nice and simple.   These are the events we have so far, if we get more info we'll add the events!  TWEET or Email us any info! We really think Lou Ha's will be the best overall party but Beggar's is really putting up some amazing specials.  We're pretty happy with the variety EL has to offer, have fun!

Lou and Harry's NYE 2011 - 20$ Lou Ha's has and always will be one of our favorite spots to party.  Featuring an entire bar midnight balloon drop, the perk looks good too with free champagne toast, buffet, photo booth pictures, coat check, and shuttle service.  Triple Lindy will be playing all night along with DJ SNS.  Dress to impress, this will be a good one. Dublin Square - 10$ Free admission till 9 then it's 10$. Dinner menu and drink specials all night long, Star-farm in front, DJ Beats in the back bar. Champagne toast at midnight

Harpers / RUSH - 15$ gets you in the door or pay 20$ with dinner buffet.  Your ticket gets you in to both Harper's and Rush and admittance is free if you get there before 8pm. Midnight breakfast buffet as well as champagne toast.  An ELB favorite Bobo Lai will be spinning club RUSH from 7pm to 4am.  Square Pegz and DJ Siege will be playing upstairs at 10:30.

Beggar's Banquet - NO COVER Drink specials will be kicking off at 8 PM as we countdown to the New Year. Each hour we add another drink special on top of the one from the previous hour."  $5 Domestic Pitchers all night, $4 All Premium Drafts 8 PM - CLOSE, $3 Call Drinks 9 PM - CLOSE, $2 Well Drinks 10 PM - CLOSE, $1 Jello Shots 11 PM - CLOSE and a champagne toast at midnight. No tickets required, no cover and kitchen open till midnight!

ENSO - 25$ after 10pm gets you in the door and a buffet at midnight! DJ Juan Trevino will be on the decks. Enso's NYE dinner menu HERE.

PT O'Malley's - *10$ - As well as 5$ Pre-Sale tickets are available now for and include a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. This guarantee's your admittance by 10PM. Table reservations are also available and include a complimentary bottle of champagne. DJ Big Mike will be on the decks as well as a "house magician" Chaz king performing tricks. (For questions, reservations, advance tickets please ask for a manager at (517) 332 - 2959)

Woody's Oasis - NO COVER As far as we can tell there is no cost for admittance, and their specials are insane!  Woody's is featuring these awesome specials all night! $5 Domestic Pitchers & $7 Craft/Premium Pitchers, $5 Off Bottles & $1 Off Glasses All Our "Other", Sparkling & Dessert Wines,$5 16oz Long Islands, $5 Dead Guy Ales, $2 SoCo Lime Shots, $12.95 Surf & Turf Kabob Entrees & $2 Off All Our Vegetarian Entrees and Complimentary Champagne & Hors D’oeuvres At Midnight!

Whiskey Barrel - 15$ "Spend your NYE with the hottest country jam in Michigan. featuring Brian Lorente & the Usual Suspects" 21 and up welcome doors open at 7pm champagne toast at midnight with a 1am breakfast buffet.  Seating is first come first serve!

XIAO - 15$ - This year we will be throwing it down at Xiao China Grille & Lounge. The party starts @ 10PM but we won't be ending until the wee hours of 2012 @ 4AM! LIQUOR WONT STOP SPILLING UNTIL 3:55AM! Featuring DJ Delafresh - DJ Cstyles.

Rick's - 12$ Tickets guarantee admission and include a dinner buffet catered by Chef Dominique, and all the party favors. Champagne bottle specials + other specials all night long. Open till 4 AM. Call 351-2285.

RICK’S FINALS WEEK RUNDOWN!

Prepare for a week of mayhem at Rick's...

Ok you know the drill... Rick's is gonna be packed all week long for barcrawls, graduation parties, small groups, big groups, bla blal bla whatever.  So let us save you some time and give you the rundown for the rest of the week.  The weekly specials haven't changed... except the Thursday Friday specials appear to be non existent?  Why? Gouge the students one last time?  Although i will give them credit where its due, their Wednesday special is still kick-ass $3.00 every-things!

Tuesday:

-doors open at 7:00 pm
- DJ Tyler Hawkins and the boys start spinning at 10pm to get that dance floor going *DJ Tyler Hawkins is under rated*
-Big Red Wings game tonight (free pizza during the 1st and second periods)
-Great Specials all night long. $2.50 Miller lt btls, $3 SoCo limes, $3 all Bacardi Drinks, $3.75 Dragon Bombs.

Wednesday:

-It is "Ladies Night"!!!! Ladies you get in free all night long.
- ICE DJs start at 9pm
-doors open at 7pm sharp
-Everything in the house will be $3. Everything is 3 bucks(Shots, pitchers, beers, drinks, and bombs)

Thursday:

- doors open at 6pm
- ICE DJs from 8pm- close
- Jedi Mind Trip hit the stage at 11pm
- Ladies in free until 9pm

Friday:

- Doors open at 5pm
- ICE DJs get the dance floor going at 8pm
- Ladies get in free until 9pm

MICHIGAN BARS NOW SMOKE FREE

Michigan smoking ban now in effect.

Well the time has come, May 1st 2010 you can no longer smoke in your favorite East Lansing Bars. Or any Michigan bar for that matter.

I ended up heading out to a few bars this weekend and it was definitely much easier breathing but i also feel bad for the smokers that are regulars.

Here is my quick breakdown of what business it will affect the most.

  • Regulars who hang during the week around EL
  • Students / coffee shops during the week.
  • Bars that are slums... meaning bars that smell better while Smokey then while non smokey

Other than that i really don't see much decline in business on weekends because we all see lines around the block at most of our favorites.  For every smoker that doesn't go out anymore means shorter lines for the non smokers.

We'd also love to give a shout out to the Detroit Free Press for giving us a shout-out during an interview at the POST in East Lansing.  Below are a handful of opinions from students i saw or overheard this past weekend at various EL bars.

"Well it sucks, but i guess its for the best." -LCC student

"It was weird coming to school in Michigan because Cincinnati has been like that for a while.  It made me remember why i hate smoking so much" -Cooley Law Student

"If you hate smoke don't go to bars!" - Lansing Sienna Heights University student
